MITCH SEETO

Mitch Seeto began martial arts in the 1980s under his father, later training in Kyokushin Karate where he developed strong fundamentals through rigorous practice and competition.

Since 2002, he has studied Red Boat Wing Chun under Sigung Rick Spain, a system integrating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is a qualified Provisional Stunt Actor, focused on film fighting.

Outside martial arts, Mitch works as a senior consultant in human-centred design, with experience as a design director and teacher.

With 30+ years of experience, Mitch delivers disciplined, student-focused martial training.

Sigung Rick Spain

Mitch's teacher, Sigung Rick Spain, has dedicated his life to martial arts. He trained full-time in Wing Chun under Grandmaster William Cheung, a senior student of Ip Man and friend of Bruce Lee. Representing Australia, Rick became World Full Contact Middleweight Champion in 1982/83. He also holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kyokushin Karate.

Rick’s experience on the street, in the ring, and on the mat has shaped an evolved Wing Chun system grounded in practical application, athletic development, and integrated ground fighting. Today, he continues to lead and develop Red Boat Wing Chun from its Sydney headquarters in Alexandria.

Wing Chun Kung FU

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a Southern Chinese martial art developed during a period of social unrest. While many systems of the time imitated animals and required years of rigid conditioning, Wing Chun took a different approach — direct, practical, and human-centred.

Built on economy of movement, structure, leverage, and efficiency, it was designed to produce functional skill in a shorter time frame. True to its origins, the system continues to adapt and evolve while preserving its core principles.
